We're all going on a - Mushroom Hunt - (and don't forget the plums)

Today I thought I'd show you some of the fungi found in the orchard

Superstitious apple pickers beware - you won't want to go into the fairy circle.

So delicate.

And finally a giant, the 50p piece gives you some indication of the size of this puff ball.
My husband likes to slice and fry these in butter.
Our plum season is rapidly drawing to a close, so, I've posted some of our favourite plum recipes in a Renaissance Newsletter if you'd like to take a look.

  1. That really is a fairy circle - almost! I'm glad you can tell the difference between what's edible and not, I can't identify one from the other but I do like them fried in butter!

Off now to check out your plum recipes ...

  3. Gorgeous, beautiful, sunny blooms on your last post!!

It seems to be a very good year for fungi in general. We had a Giant Puffball in the garden but didn't quite have the confidence to eat it although I know you can, mind you it looked so impressive I would have been sorry to disturb it ;)

  4. I adore mushrooms. I always buy them though, as I don't know my edibles from my non edibles.
